Assessments and Reports

There are a variety of ways of assessing a child's skills that aren't necessarily a formal assessment

Options for initial assessments and reviewing progress are available. The assessment findings will be detailed in a report for you, including recommendations for next steps.

Plans and Programmes

A goal without a plan is just a wish!

Plans include specific, functional goals that are tailored for your child. The programmes include coaching on how to implement the plan at home and at school.

Therapy Sessions

One off sessions or blocks of therapy are available, depending on your child's needs. To understand your child's communication skills an assessment by Connect SLT Ltd is required before starting therapy sessions.

About Me

Kia Ora and welcome to Connect Speech Therapy Ltd

​

​My name is Kirsten Mulvay and I am a Speech and Language Therapist with over 10 years experience. I have worked in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom, with a wide range of communication delays and disorders in various settings. I also have a lot of experience working with young people with a diagnosis of ASD, as well as complex and multiple learning needs, in mainstream and special school settings.

​I decided to start Connect Speech Therapy Ltd to allow me the flexibility to balance my working life with my family. 

​​The ethos of my work is to support the child and family at the centre of what we do. I am passionate about working with children, families and schools in their everyday environments to support people to communicate. 

​

My main areas of expertise are:

  • Social interaction and 
    Social Communication

  • Complex Needs

  • Speech

  • Language

​

I continue to engage in professional development and stay up to date with best practice guidelines. Some courses I have completed and integrate into my practice include: TIPS for Autism, Talking Mats, Lidcombe, SCERTS, PECS and Makaton. I am also Hanen Certified to run It Takes Two to Talk programmes.

Rates

Appointments can be held in your home or child's school by arrangement. Initial assessments typically range from 1-2 hours and therapy sessions from 30-60 minutes. Part of that time will be spent with your child, and the rest demonstrating and supporting the adults around the child to implement the strategies.

Prices quoted include travel within the Kapiti region. Please contact to discuss your needs and travel costs to Wellington, Hutt Valley and Horowhenua.
